Gene therapy offers individuals with hemophilia new possibilities, but it also presents psychological challenges that require support from psychologists before and after treatment. While gene therapy can provide positive outcomes, such as a sense of freedom and the ability to engage in new activities, it can also bring challenges. Patients may feel isolated, overwhelmed by follow-up appointments, or experience a shift in identity as they no longer view themselves as "hemophiliacs." Psychologists recommend maintaining connections with the hemophilia community, managing expectations, and seeking psychological support to address concerns like hypertension. Ongoing communication with hematologists and other medical professionals is also essential to reduce uncertainty and feelings of being overwhelmed.
